Belgium Pillar 2 Registration: New Notification Requirements for Pillar 2 Global Minimum Tax
On 2 July 2024, Belgium's Federal Public Service (SPF) Finance issued a notice on an extension of the initial deadline for the submission of the registration notification for the Pillar 2 global minimum tax until 16 September 2024 for groups that will not carry out advance payments in 2024.

On 15 May 2024, the Belgian government enacted the Royal Decree outlining new notification requirements for large multinational and domestic groups under the Pillar 2 global minimum tax rules. This mandate is regulated by Belgium's Federal Public Service (SPF) Finances and affects groups required to register with the Crossroad Bank for Enterprises (Banque-Carrefour des Entreprises - BCE).

Who Needs to Register?
Large multinational and domestic groups falling under the Pillar 2 scope are required to register. This encompasses any group subject to the global minimum tax as per the Law of 19 December 2023.
Registration Deadlines
- New Registrants: Groups must submit their notification no later than 30 days after the start of their tax year, should it fall within the scope of the new law.
- Existing or Soon-to-Start Tax Years: For groups whose tax year has already commenced or will commence soon, the notification must be submitted within 45 days following the publication of the Royal Decree, making the initial deadline 13 July 2024.
- Groups that will not carry out advance payments in 2024 for domestic top-up tax or the IIR: Belgium's Federal Public Service (SPF) Finance issued a notice on 2 July, 2024 to extend the initial deadline for the submission of the registration notification for the Pillar 2 global minimum tax until 16 September 2024.

- Submission Platform: Notifications must be submitted through MyMinfin (My professional tools > Pillar 2 - Mes outils professionnels > Pilier 2).
- Required Information: Ensure that all relevant group information is accurately included in the notification form.
